How it works
An AI segmentation model looks at every pixel and decides how much of it belongs to the subject. The result becomes a soft-edged mask, so hair and fine edges blend smoothly instead of looking cut out with scissors. Everything happens on your device; the model is downloaded once and then remembered by your browser.
- Choose, drop or paste a photo.
- Click Remove background.
- Keep it transparent or pick a colour, then download: transparent images save as PNG, coloured ones as JPG.
Tips
- Clear subjects work best: a person, product, pet or car that stands out from its surroundings.
- Busy scenes are harder: if several things stand out equally, the model may keep more than you want.

Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and your photo is processed on your own device. The only downloads are the tool’s code and the AI model.
Is it free?
Yes: no sign-up, no watermark, full resolution up to 4,096 pixels on the longest side, and no limit on the number of images. The page is supported by ads.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. On computers with WebGPU (Chrome or Edge) it uses your graphics chip; elsewhere, including most phones, it uses a smaller version of the same model on the processor, which takes a few seconds longer.
