Free AI Image Upscaler

Make small or blurry images bigger and sharper with an AI model, free and without signing up. Everything runs in your browser: your image is never uploaded.

Powered by Real-ESRGAN. The first run downloads the AI model (about 10 MB); after that it is remembered.

How it works

Ordinary resizing just stretches the pixels you already have, so an enlarged image looks soft and any blur or compression blocks get bigger too. This tool uses Real-ESRGAN, a neural network trained on real-world photos to restore sharp edges, clean up noise and remove JPEG artefacts while it enlarges. It runs on your device’s graphics chip through ONNX Runtime, which is why nothing has to be uploaded.

  1. Choose, drop or paste an image.
  2. Pick 2× or 4×.
  3. Click Upscale, drag the slider to compare, then download the PNG.

Tips for the best result

  • It shines on blurry, small or compressed images, such as old photos, screenshots and thumbnails. On an image that is already sharp, the gain is smaller.
  • Very fine texture can come out smoother than in a real photo, such as skin pores or grass. That is how this kind of model cleans up noise.
  • Use 2× for photos that are already medium-sized, and 4× for small images, icons and thumbnails.
  • Large images are reduced first. To stay within what a browser can handle, the result is limited to about 4,096 pixels on its longest side, and the tool tells you when it has had to shrink the input.
  • Transparent PNGs lose their transparency; the model works on colour only.
  • It works on phones too, but a laptop or desktop with a graphics chip is much faster.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and the image is processed on your own device. The only downloads are the tool’s code and model files, from the jsDelivr content network.

Is it really free?

Yes: no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images. The page is supported by ads.

Why is it slow on my computer?

Upscaling is heavy work. Speed depends on your graphics chip, the image size and the options you choose. 2× on a small image is quickest; if your browser has no graphics acceleration, the tool tells you and uses the much slower processor, with smaller images.
